Done! 🎉 Welcome to StatusQ! You are now registered and can get started right away.

The app has four tabs: Feed, Contacts, Search and My Profile. After logging in, you will be directly in the feed.

Here are some troubleshooting steps if you are having difficulty completing the registration process.

  • You need an active SIM card and must be able to receive SMS or calls. For prepaid plans, your balance must be sufficient to receive SMS.
  • Check that you have entered the correct phone number and country code.

Attention:These telephone numbers are not supported and cannot be registered with StatusQ:
VoIP numbers, fixed-line Numbers, toll-free numbers, premium service numbers, UAN numbers, shared cost numbers.

  • Make sure you have entered the correct verification code from the SMS.
  • You may have weak mobile phone signal, e.g. due to weak network coverage. Change your location and go to where the coverage/signal is better.
  • Check that flight mode is really deactivated.
  • Activate roaming when you are abroad. However, please note that additional costs may be incurred when roaming.
  • Also make sure that you have a stable internet connection (mobile data, Wi-Fi, etc.). A stable connection is necessary to be able to use the app without any technical problems.
  • Is the latest version of StatusQ installed? Check if there are any app updates and install them.
  • Switch off your mobile phone, wait 30 seconds and switch it on again.
  • A verification code will be sent to your mobile phone number via SMS. Is your device able to receive and send normal SMS messages? If not, there may be something wrong with your mobile phone’s SMS settings. If you have other SMS apps installed, deactivate them for a short time and try again.

For security reasons, we will only send you the verification code via SMS to themobile  phone number you entered, but not via email or in any other way. If you enter an incorrect code, you will be blocked for a certain period. Try to register again after the waiting time has passed.

If the problem persists, contact Support.

Attention: If you receive a verification code without requesting it, ignore the message. It could be a mistake or an attempt at misuse. Do not reply and do not share the code.

⚙️ Setup

To install the application, an Android device should have at least the Android 6 operating system or newer, and an iPhone – iOS 15.6 or newer.

  1.  Download the StatusQ app on iPhone from Apple’s App Store or

from the Google Play Store on Android smartphones.

  2. Tap on “Install”. Depending on the configuration, an iPhone device requires a download confirmation by password or fingerprint.
  3. After installing StatusQ, you can start the app directly from the store: Tap on “Open”.

Afterwards, you will need to register for the app.

To register for the StatusQ app, you must be at least 16 years old.

Registration is only possible with a mobile phone number. This means that a user needs a smartphone with a SIM card. Registration with a landline number is not possible. It is also not possible to install the application on other devices such as a tablet or computer.

  1. When you open the app for the first time, you must first agree to the terms of use and privacy policy.
  2. Then, you will be asked to enter your mobile phone number: Select your country from the drop-down list to add your country code, then enter your phone number.
For example: The country code for Germany is +49. A German mobile number like 0171 1234567 is converted to the international format as +49 171 1234567. You can either leave out the zero (0) or enter it without brackets – both work, e.g. +49 0 171 1234567.
  3. Confirm the validity of the provided phone number and the minimum age requirement by selecting “Continue” and “Ok”.
  4. You will receive a code by SMS to the phone number you provided. Enter this code in the app.
  5. You will then be asked to grant the app the necessary access authorisations. To connect with your contacts in StatusQ, you need to share your contact list with the app.
  6. You will then be asked to allow personalised advertising. Tap on “Agree” or “Manage options” to confirm your choice.
  7. Afterwards, you can decide whether StatusQ can send you notifications. Tap on “Ok” if you agree, or on “Not now” if you do not want to receive notifications. You can adjust your notification settings at any time in the settings.

🎨 User Interface

The StatusQ app is installed and you are already logged in. Now you can get started right away!

The user interface is divided into four tabs: Feed, Contacts, Search and My Profile.

When you open the application, you always land on the home page or the feed. In the feed, you will find posts from your StatusQ contacts or your own shared posts.

If none of your contacts use StatusQ or nothing has been posted yet, the feed is empty.

The feed already shows some posts? These are the posts of StatusQ users from your contact list. Here you can give “Likes”, download the photos and share them. By tapping on the heart symbol again, you can remove the “Like”. You can see the number of people who have liked a post next to the heart symbol.

When you refresh your feed, the most recent photos that have been posted are displayed at the top. This means that the posts are displayed in the feed sorted by date and time and the newest post is at the top of the feed.

At the bottom right of each post is the date on which the post was published.

The eye symbol shows how many users have viewed the photo.

Zoom

To view a photo in detail, use two fingers to pull apart to zoom in.

Click on the Home icon in the menu bar at the bottom to return to the feed.

A list of all contacts from your own phone book who use StatusQ appears in the Contacts tab.

Profile images and names

Each contact’s profile picture, name and mobile phone number are displayed. The profile pictures and names of your contacts as well as your data are displayed as you have saved them in your phone book.

The list can be scrolled vertically or you can search for contacts using the search function (🔎). Search for the name or a phone number.

What to do if no contacts are visible?

If no contacts are listed in StatusQ, there are several reasons for this:

  • The permission to access the contact book is missing. Click in the settings of your device under Apps on StatusQ and allow all permissions there.
  • The phone numbers of your contacts are not saved in your device’s address book. If they have a foreign phone number, save the number in full international format, e.g. +49 171 1234567.
  • Your contacts are not using StatusQ yet.

If you only want to download certain photos from a post, you must save them manually: Swipe through the photos and tap on the download icon under the photo you want to download. If you are doing this for the first time, you must give StatusQ access to the gallery.

The My profile tab contains posts that you have uploaded to StatusQ. To find specific photos, use the search function. Enter a keyword such as “beach”, “dog” or “sunset”.

Here you can also see the number of posts, images and likes you have received. Under “Usage” is the amount of memory used. For example: If the usage is 74 MB, there are 926 MB of a total of 1000 MB still available. Each user has 1000 MB (1 GB) of free storage space.
